At Sustainable Construction Services our team includes licensed Low Carbon Consultants, Architects, Chartered Building Services Engineers, BREEAM Accredited Professionals, EcoHomes, Code for Sustainable Homes, SAP, iSBEM and EPC assessors. All our assessors have a well grounded experience working within the construction industry.

 

We are able to draw on this vast wealth of experience by providing advice to our clients, which not only satisfies the minimum assessment criteria, but which is also balanced with a practical and commercial knowledge of construction.

Matthew Edis

BEng MSc MCIBSE AP BREEAM

Director

 

Matthew is the director of Sustainable Construction Services and one of the UK's leading sustainability experts. He has been successful in designing and delivering a range of sustainable projects. Two of his recent projects have been named amongst the 20 greenest buildings in Britain by Property Magazine.

 

Before founding the company, Matthew was leading BDP's Sustainability team at its Head Office in Manchester. He is a Low Carbon Consultant, Chartered Building Services Engineer, qualified BREEAM Accredited Professional, Code for Sustainable Homes and DREAM assessor, experienced SAP, iSBEM and EPC assessor. Initially trained as an engineer, Matthew possesses a wide range of sustainability skills based in the 'real world'.

 

Matthew has an accomplished record in sustainable design and nearly all his certified BREEAM assessments have achieved an "Excellent" rating. His multi-discipline skills have been used in countless projects to maximise the energy efficiency of buildings. He has worked in teams with both architects and building services engineers to optimise passive ventilation design and improve the performance of the facades of buildings. This has resulted in significant savings in CO2emissions, annual running costs and high scoring Energy Performance Certificates.

 

As well as CO2reduction, Matthew has worked on wider environmental aspects of the built environment and advising clients on a wide range of sustainable and community related measures. This range of work includes working with clients in the early stages of projects to establish the environmental brief, advising on green roofs, and advising government organisations (e.g. WRAP) on reducing material waste in design (http://www.envirowise.gov.uk/347135).

 


Anna Da Col,

B.Arch (Hons), MSc, CSH / BREEAM Assessor

Senior Consultant - Sustainable Design

 

Anna is a highly skilled and experienced sustainability consultant with a strong interest in both the theory and practical implementation of sustainable design. She has successfully implemented an Environmental Management System compliant with ISO14001, following her Master's thesis on the subject.

Before joining Sustainable Construction Services, Anna was Environmental Performance Manager at Stride Treglown and led the sustainability team to deliver over 60 assessments. Her assessment of Stride Treglown's new Cardiff office, Treglown Court, was awarded the UK's highest BREEAM Outstanding rating at Design Stage (89.12%).

Initially qualified in an architectural degree, Anna brings this skill along with her 15 years of environmental and sustainable design skills to all her projects. She is highly organised and prides herself on keeping clients and project teams to further their project's environmental credentials. She is an expert in sustainable legislation and has expert knowledge about how best to implement this on projects.


Freddie Whitefield,

Bsc, MA (Oxon), Msc

Senior Consultant - Sustainable Design

 

Freddie is an experienced construction project manager with a strong environmental background. He has led teams on numerous construction projects and acted as a sustainability consultant on many others. He brings his years of on-site experience to add value that he provides to clients and design teams.

 

Recent relevant project experience has been focused on a range of projects, from masterplan development and renewable energy feasibility studies through to Design Waste Management Plans and developing environmental management plans for main contractors. Freddie has also recently completed a Master's thesis on the opportunities for construction waste minimization through the innovation of design waste management techniques.

 

A graduate of Oxford, Freddie historically worked at the Centre for Alternative Technology, gaining an unparalleled education and practical experience of sustainable design, material efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Following a period as a construction manager and surveyor he is now providing support on BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes schemes, as well as offering strategic sustainability consultancy and analysis for major construction projects throughout the UK. 

 


Laura Meehan

BA (Hons) CSH / BREEAM Assessor

Sustainability Consultant

Laura is an experience sustainability consultant, and is a qualified Code for Sustainable Homes assessor, BREEAM assessor and energy modeller. She is a member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) and has a Masters in advance environmental and energy studies.

During her career she has deliver a range of services, included BREEAM, Code for sustainable homes, low and zero carbon feasibility studies, sustainability statements for Planning, daylighting studies, SAPs, SBEM, waste reduction in design, environmental contractor prelims and on-site contractor support. With all, she has brought enthusiasm, knowledge and a determination to deliver the best solution for the client.

Before joining the team, she worked for ECD Project Services (part of ECD Architects). While there, her work included a Technology Strategy Board competition to retrofit existing houses to reduce carbon reductions by 80%, and BRE pilot schemes to improve the energy efficiency of refurbishments.


Annette Lamley,

BSc (Hons), MSc, AP BREEAM

Sustainability Consultant

Annette is a fully qualified Code for Sustainable Homes assessor and BREEAM Accredited Professional. She is qualified to assess BREEAM projects under Multi-residential, Bespoke, Offices and International schemes. She has been the key sustainability advisor for a number of multi million pound construction projects.

Having previously worked for Halcrow and Tewkesbury Borough Councils Planning and Development services Annette has gained invaluable experience dealing with a wide range of projects. These include renewable energy feasibility studies and gaining ISO 14001 accreditation.

Annette is at the forefront of sustainable development having recently studied to complete a Masters Degree in Energy Policy at the University of Exeter.


Ann Smeeth,

BA, Marketing Communications

 

Ann has a comprehensive understanding of environmental initiatives and practical sustainability. One of her key skills is to be able to cut through the "green-wash", and identify the true value of different project solutions.

With a comprehensive background in corporate marketing and client management Ann champions sustainability issues through communicating ideas that are simply to understand. Moving from a business focused world, Ann has brought a pragmatic and business minded approach to sustainability.

Ann offers a highly professional skill set that is client focused. Whether it is the management of projects, delivery of environmental legislation guidance documents or the production of Home User Guides, Ann is always focused on delivering the highest sustainable standards, on time, and on budget.
